About the Training

Guerilla Training is about delivering low cost high value training for those looking to up-skill in the digital space. We don't supply equipment like computers but do supply access to high quality trainers with great knowledge and experience.

The scheduled trainer for this session is Sam Easterby-Smith. Sam is an experienced iPhone developer with substantial training experience. Prior to forming his own company Sam worked at The University of Bolton.

Course Outline

  • Using Xcode and the User Interface Builder
  • Introduction to Objective-C, Cocoa/Cocoa Touch
  • Working with Views and Controllers
  • Core data
  • Device features GPS and Maps

What you will need to bring

  • Your Apple Mac Laptop (or even your iMac!)
  • The Software Development SDK (Download and install from iPhone Dev Center)
  • An iPhone or iPod Touch device (A simulator is included with the SDK)
  • You will also need to be a member of the iPhone Developer Program.

What you need to know

Creating iPhone applications is software development and requires a different set of skills to that of web development and web design. People attending the course will need to have a programming background in an Object-Orientated Language such as C#, Ruby, Java or Python.

It is not recommended you attend this particular course if you are new to programming

Location

The course will take place at the newly established Manchester Hackspace and will be the first of its kind at the venue. The Hackspace is a new project and resides hidden away in Manchester's bustling Northern Quarter. We are really happy to be supporting the project and the enormous potential it has to offer for the digital folk of Manchester.
